beach

Swimming, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Fishing, Bird Watching
Situated in a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South Devon, it is just one mile from the spectacularly beautiful and unspoilt Erme estuary. Wonwell beach on the estuary offers vast expanses of sand and is perfect for swimming, paddling and fishing nets at low tide and windsurfing at high tide. Unspoilt, beautiful, and no services with only roadside parking which means that the beach is wonderfully empty.
Nick Oatway in Kingston takes boat parties out for sea fishing from the Erme Estuary; he has boats/kayaks for rent. Bigbury-On-Sea and Bahtham are a 15/20 min drive away for beaches with more services and more people.

walking

There is wonderful walking straight from High Barn. The National Trust coastal path can be joined a mile away, where there are stunning cliff top walks. There are inland walks through fields and woods. Dartmoor has endless walking half an hour away. Suggested walks from the house which usually include a visit to a local pub are available in the house.

surfing

Bigbury-on-Sea (and Burgh Island, accessed by a sea tractor at high tide) are a 15/20 min drive.
Easy parking on the sea front and Discovery Surf School on the sea front for surfing and kite surfing.
Surfing lessons also available at Bantham Surf School a little further away.
